The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, Arrives

Ritz Carlton Nomad

What Midtown is to offices, NoMad is to hotels. And recently, NoMad is the hottest spot to open a hotel. The forecast is that it will be for at least the next year, with some big names in the pipeline. The latest is The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, and this is one to get excited about as it expands José Andrés’ restaurant empire.

The Details

The thing about the Ritz is that even though you’re in the middle of Manhattan, you’ll find a way to feel at peace inside. In the case of the The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, it’s because the building is so tall for the neighborhood, you rise above the city. The latest hotel in The Ritz-Carlton portfolio is an ode to a past when the streets below were home to jazz bars and cabarets and the floral abundance found in the city’s Flower District.

The Rooms

There are 219 guest rooms, 31 suites, and 16 one- and two-bedroom penthouse residences, all with large windows and views of the Manhattan skyline. All rooms face south, offering a quintessential view of downtown NYC. The bottom line is luxury. The interiors take inspo from the floral theme that runs through the hotel. But instead of the large arrangements that bloom downstairs and in each dining space, the rooms are more demure. Soft, earthy tones create a palette that feels reminiscent of a spring bud waiting to open. Hanging light fixtures and headboards also mimic the soft curves of a young flower.

Lastly, this may seem like a contradiction, but the bathrooms are, well…exciting! They each have terrazzo marble and floating tubs, some of which are placed right beside the large windows. So, if you want, go ahead and bath with a view.

The Food

One of the most interesting aspects of this new hotel are the dining spaces. There’s the lobby restaurant and bar, Zaytinya which serves Mediterranean mezze breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Then there’s the kitchen helmed by José Andrés. The four Michelin-starred chef is beyond a culinary master. He is also a humanitarian aid worker and presidential-medal recipient. Andrés has cooked in kitchens all over the country, bringing the culture of Spain with him. His presence is an exciting addition to the NoMad neighborhood. We’re betting his 31st restaurant, the Bazaar, is going to bring some notable guests.

As if one award-winning restaurant wasn’t enough, The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, also welcomes Nubeluz, a speakeasy-style bar on the 50th floor that boasts views of Times Square. Looking for that perfect high-rise bar picture? This is likely to be one of the best.

We’re excited to see The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, bring more life to the neighborhood, and look forward to checking out those penthouse views.
