Fairytale Stories

The place: Fivestory New York

The space: Step through the velvet-clad entryway of a historic brownstone off Madison Avenue, and discover interior designer Ryan Korban’s ingenious blend of glamorous boudoir and old-Hollywood elegance. The collection for men and women is divided into four enchanting alcoves, while the high-gloss marble floors and spiraling wrought-iron staircases might get you twirling like a ballerina in a jewel box.

The product: Opened in the spring of 2012 by Claire Distenfeld, the shop features casual chunky knits and vibrant trousers and blazers from unlikely designers like Simonetta, Ostwald Helgason, and CASH CA; peplum and asymmetrical evening dresses from Anthony Vaccarello and Hakaan. The shoe mezzanine is also a draw, with Aperlai suede heels next to killer Chrissie Morris stilettos.

The special:  If you leave with anything, make it a sumptuous green suede brief bag from Lotuff & Clegg or Spellbound cuff and drop earrings, with citrine stones, from Erickson Beamon.
