How to Use Radishes

October 31, 2012

A vegetable of many disguises, this yearlong root can be found in a range of colors, from bold reds, pinks, and purples to more monochromatic whites and blacks. Bite into a slice of raw radish for a crisp snap, grill for a meaty bite, or toss the leaves to create a peppery pungent salad.

Try to choose radishes that are smooth and plump, and if you plan on serving them raw, make sure that the bright green leaves are still attached. For a summer treat, slice radishes with a mustard dressing and creamy chèvre, but if you’re battling that winter frost, pop a couple of radishes in the oven until brown, and serve with a light vinaigrette. Delicious in any season, this root is sure to be a hit at any dinner party.
