The Peninsula Paris

In prime right bank territory in the tres chic 16 arrondissement, the former Majestic hotel has been gut renovated to bring it up to 21stcentury palace standards. The theme is grand - the impressive entrance, large scale rooms, closet space more ample than a Manhattan apartment and six dining and bar options which have taken their station as the gathering place amongst Parisian society.

The Plaza Athenee Paris

Paris hotels are stepping up their A-game, and the Plaza Athenee is making sure they retain their place at the luxury table.  After a 200 mil Euro refresh (aka pocket change for its owner the Sultan of Brunei) the iconic flowered terraces on the Avenue Montaigne reopened its doors this summer.  It’s still a classic; Louis XIV furniture is fused with bold pops of color and an Olsen twin or two along with the bevy of celebs have re-taken up residence in the lavish suites.

Shiseido Spa

If you find yourself with the long layover in Paris, or even better plan that weekend getaway with friends, the iconic Shiseido has opened up its first branded spa at Hotel Fouquets right off the Champs.  Unlike everything else in the area, it won’t break your bank but it does live up to the standards of any top spa.  As for the pool?  Sublime for a refreshing swim and detox from all the French food.

   The Dirty French
New York

With all the Paris coverage we’d be remiss not to mention the opening of the Torrisi empire’s latest venture in New York City, where they’ve gone from rival Italian to French cuisine.  Leave it to Torrisi to make oysters an affair, as they’re shucked fresh tableside along with classic French dishes like cotes du boeuf.  While the menu looks traditional, expect Torrisi to put their own creative and edgy spin.

Park Hyatt New York

We’ve always wondered why one of our favorite portfolio of hotels didn’t have an outpost in the city that defines luxury, but now we understand why.  Sharing airspace with residences that will house more billionaires than any other building in Manhattan, the Park Hyatt officially opened this August.  And it’s lavish.  A staycation may be in order, between the Nalai spa with a view and power scene bar for drinks overlooking Carnegie Hal.

The Regent, Porto Montenegro

Porto Montenegro has grand plans.  With more boat slips than St. Tropez, Montengro may one day be hotter than its iconic predecessor.  For now, we like to think of it as prime real estate investment territory.  One step closer to summer vacation domination was the long-awaited opening of the Regent Hotel.  Insiders know this was once slated to be a Four Seasons, so the luxury foundation is strong.  Location is ideal near the beach club where sunsets are legendary.
