Most Luxurious Hotel BahamasThe Bahamas Remix - Eleven Experience Bahama House
Things that might come to mind when you think of the Bahamas: cruise ships, family-friendly water parks, and maybe a lyric from a certain Beach Boys video in which John Stamos plays the conga drums in a neon tank top. One thing you probably don’t imagine is an intimate and ultra-refined getaway to a splinter-shaped isle trimmed with pink sand, which is exactly what we experienced at Bahama House on Harbour Island.
Located in the island’s charming pastel-tinted downtown area, the 26-guest luxury hotel is the first beach property by Eleven Experience, a real estate collective whose outdoorsy 48-year-old founder spends his time fly fishing and heli-skiing when he’s not managing billion-dollar funds. So yeah – the details here are billionaire-approved, from the canopied four-poster beds to a sound system that can support a Jay-Z concert (just in case you and Mr. Bey are close). Arranged around a crystal lap pool and tiki bar frequented by Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz before the Eleven takeover, the tropical retreat’s small footprint (main house, pair of cottages, and four-suite annex) maintains a secluded vibe, whether you’re booking one room or the entire place. The on-site staff is sterling, from Chef Niki, whose lobster Benedict johnnycakes are legend, to Captain Richard, who oversees the House’s 35-foot Scorpion RIB boat. Even for those used to having people suck up to them all the time, you feel more like family with the warm and genuine staff.
As with all Eleven digs, there’s a premium on adventure: beach horseback riding, cliff jumping, snorkeling in secret coves only reachable by boat, and more. But if curling up on your villa’s insanely comfortable couch with a perfect Dark ‘n' Stormy is more your speed, you do you. Even if doing you involves inviting Stamos over for a conga session.
The Galavante List
It is near impossible to leave Bahama House with Chef Niki's exceptional cooking, especially with the daily "apres beach" spread post 5pm. Apres beach is a riff off the traditional apres ski, where Eleven has its roots. Here in the Bahamas, it's done with a creole spin and focuses on local ingredients like stone crab claws, lobster and other seasonal treats. Our advice is to plan to have two dinners an evening, as the food on the island and atmosphere are also what make Harbour Island so special.

When you’re on the island with the Eleven Experience team, make sure to ask them to take you to the local artisan who creates their beautiful shell frames and decorative boxes. Also ask them to take you to the local weaver to pick up a handmade bag as a souvenir.
For one of the most beautiful spots in all of Harbour Island, plan a full-on photo session at Girls Bank at the Lonely Tree. It’s an iconic spot, and one that rivals any place in the Maldives and Seychelles.
