Yes, Greece has its share of budgetary woes. As global citizens, the least we can do is help keep its tourism sector alive. And that won’t be hard with the summer debut of the Amanzoe on the Peloponnese Peninsula. Aman Resort’s newest ode to luxury sits atop a hill like a Greek god, with 360-degree views of the Aegean Sea. It’s no wonder its name means “peaceful life.” Fit for Zeus himself, the resort features enormous suites, private courtyards, plunge pools and terraces in the 38 guest pavilions. All that’s missing is someone to fan you while feeding you grapes. Then again, this is Aman, so we’re pretty sure that can be arranged.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an Aman property without an out-of-this-world spa. Luxe treatments combine Asian techniques with ancient Greek beauty rituals and local ingredients. Olive oil here is for more than just dipping bread. But both ways are just as delicious.

This is a destination where Aman creates the experience for you, whether it’s a historical tour, hiking, chilling at the private beach club or helicoptering around the island. The food concepts are still in the works, but we can only imagine what feasts Aman will come up with when inspired by the local ingredients and traditional Mediterranean cuisine.

If things get a little too peaceful for you, head to the nearby Porto Heli, the center of social life on the island. The Greeks know how to throw a party that would make Dionysus proud. On your Amanzoe vacation, you’ll be living like a Greek God, only better.

Opening: July 2012
