The First Look: Villa Le Scale, Capri - Scaling New Heights
January 18, 2012
By , Founder and Editor-in-Chief

Villa Le Scale is an old friend who’s gotten a makeover that would put Joan Rivers to shame. Tucked into the hills of Anacapri in Capri, Italy, you’ll be kickin’ it old-school glamour like the barons who once used Villa Le Scale as their summer retreat. It’s a home fit for an aristocrat – literally – though tycoons and aspiring jetsetters are welcome too. With Villa Le Scale’s restoration, you get the benefit of 18th-century grandeur with modern refinements –private sea view terraces, plush beds with fine linens, and lavish Turkish and Roman baths. Every room has been completely refurbished, and like an aristocrat, no expense was spared. For those looking for off-the-tourist map luxury, Villa Le Scale is it.

And with only seven rooms and suites, Villa Le Scale will be the most exclusive ticket in town. Don’t mistake size for level of service. This is not your Mom and Pop bed and breakfast, though the breakfast is a lavish and colorful spread. Service here is 24/7, where your wish is their command. There’s also a private gym, pool, and refined dining, for when you’re not getting raucous at Villa Verde.

Lucky for you, the clientele and luxe environs are not an indicator of price. Rates range from €350 to €650 and include breakfast and taxes. Book early enough, and you can rent out the entire place with your working jet set crew. If you run your comps, Villa Le Scale won’t break your bank, like the big-name hotels on the island.

And unlike those names, Villa La Scale is private, private, private. You won’t see any tour groups gathered gawking at the lobby. It’s a perfect place to love the one you’re with, or maybe even the one you shouldn’t be with. Either way, at Villa Le Scale, you’ll get intoxicated on the scents of Capri – or maybe it’s just the prosecco.

Advance bookings can be made on www.villalescale.com or by calling +39 081 8382190 or 800-783-6904 in the US. Open May 1–Sept. 2012.
