The place: Cornelia Spa at the Surrey
The space: After relocating
The place: Phyto Universe
The space: “Relax, Breathe, Indulge” is the invitation at Patrick Ales’ oasis of green among Midtown’s glass and concrete. The first comes care of oil massages and steam in private wood cabins, made from 14th-century French shutters; the second from the oxygen-rich air emanated by 9,000 tropical plants hanging from a vertical garden; and the last from the customized hair, facial, and body treatments.
The menu: Begin each session with a complimentary analysis via the Phyto Hair Scope, which magnifies your locks up to 200 times. Treatment is then determined by your personal technician, but usually includes an oiled massage, steam, wash, and condition using botanical products. Also available are fragrant Caron Paris perfumes.
The treatment: Your treatment depends on your diagnosis. For dry hair, the Thirst Quencher revitalizes with jojoba, sage, and rosemary oils. Vital Force rescues over-processed and damaged strands, while Thairapy takes on thinning hair.
