Good For: Couples, your entourage, families, business and single
Since we would happily accept any excuse to spend a leisurely afternoon at the Mandarin Oriental in New York, as well as embrace any excuse to eat dim sum to our heart's desire - we're in luck. The hotel's celebration of the Year of the Horse this Chinese New Years is the intersection of these two favorite pastimes. An authentic dim sum experience, but elevated to the standards one would expect from the Mandarin, we suggest substituting an afternoon coffee for a bento box of gourmet creations. Think monkfish cakes with ginger-scallion relish, mushroom “firecrakers” and our personal favorite, the jumbo lump crab toast with coconut and mango. Throw in some tea cakes, and you have yourself a mini-vacation without having to leave the comforts of your view overlooking the snow-topped trees of Central Park.
