The scoop: It’s not often that tourists and locals find common
Date Night NYCEffortlessly Chic - Piora
Why we like it: This place exudes date night. Service is top notch, atmosphere is sexy and the food is interesting. And we mean that in a good way. The presentation is art and the cuisine itself is inventive and reminds you how much you like fancy food, every once in awhile. Yet, it is low key and doesn’t try too hard, but Piora conveys the message that you have a high level of taste. With its location in the West Village, it’s a solid neighborhood spot where at any time you can drop into the candle lit bar for a drink, and if it’s going well, suggest bites at the bar or commit to a full on dinner.
What to order: Virtually everything on the menu. You can do a 2-3 course tasting meal, or choose a la carte options divided into Garden, Sea and Land. Standouts on the seasonal menu when we dined were the agnolotti with fava beans (perfect for spring) morel and preserved truffle, and their signature buccattini, with potent black garlic and dunganees crab. Portions are small, so don’t be shy about ordering it up.
