The scoop: It’s not often that tourists and locals find common
Best Outdoor Terrace NYCNougatine - The Secret Garden
Why we like it: Before the weather turns on us, this is one of the best outdoor spaces in Midtown. We like it for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a cocktail. For a place that is part of the fancier Jean-Georges, it can easily become your neighborhood spot. The outdoor seating is usually easy to drop in for without reservation, and if not, you can always eat outside at their bar. For rainy days or the upcoming cooler weather, the bar inside is also a good spot to have a bite, whether you’re solo or with a friend or two and sans booking. The food is always excellent and service impeccable, and prices very gentle compared to the gastronomic JG in the main dining room area.
What to order: We like the Tasmanian sea trout on crispy rice, which is a nod to Jean-Georges’ famous crispy rice sushi. The crab cake is filling for an appetizer, and for mains we like the lobster with smoked butter, the cheeseburger if we’re feeling low in iron and the roasted organic chicken on a fall evening.
