Why we like it: First off, it’s Mendoza wine country, and the Argentines know their steak and vino. Set within the base of the Andes Mountains where the feel is undiscovered and rustic, the word here is Malbec, with some of the top producers in the world. If you've never been, it's topographically unique from the more visited wine regions like Napa, Tuscany and Bordeaux.
Cavas is indisputably one of the most luxe lodges to stay in Argentina, with an 18 room boutique hotel, blissful spa, gourmet food and stunning vistas on 55 acres of private vineyard. The ample rooms are an activity unto themselves for mornings meant to sleep in and evenings to hang out on your private deck, glass of wine in hand and the fireplace cranking to warm the cool evening air.
The area is all about exploring, where you can hike, bike, walk the town of Mendoza, check out all the gourmet restaurants, and of course wine taste. We especially like that we can drive to our favorite wine producers like Hand of God, Achaval-Ferrer and Catena, where we can taste the Angelica Zapata just thinking about it.
