The place: Cafe Pedlar
Mozzarella Bar NYCUn Altro Caffè
The place: Obikà Mozzarella Bar
The space: Housed in the glass-enclosed atrium of the IBM building, this Midtown Italian transplant will have you and your colleagues saying “un altro caffè” in no time. The open-air (or rather, open-atrium) café is set around a large, round free-standing café-bar. With the long wooden communal tables, wine glasses, and Italian-farmed ingredients, the whole affair is practically straight off the boat. As for meetings: Keep them casual, over frothy lattes spiked with ink-black espresso.
The beans: The flavorful brews are made from the Sicilian espresso beans of Miscela d’Oro.
The complement: The food is serious Italian, including fresh salads and “cutting boards,” where you can make your own sandwiches. But it’s the signature mozzarella that really drives this place.
