Why we like it: It was love at first popover with Chef Laurent
Friday Night Dinner NYCThe NoMad - Where Everyone Knows Your Name
Why we like it: It’s nice to be treated like a civilized person. The NoMad brings back impeccable service and warm hospitality to the New York City restaurant scene. Imagine this; a restaurant where you are made to feel like it is their privilege to have you dine on some of the best food in the city, and not the other way around. The setting could not be more lively yet intimate, and warm, yet chic. Think of it as an everyday Eleven Madison, as it’s the sister restaurant created by legends Daniel Humm and Will Guidara. For gluten-free diets, they have hands down the best gluten-free bread in the city in two variations – one that’s a riff on brioche, and the other which is a multi-grain version. Heaven.
What to order: During season, they sell white truffles at cost, which means you can spring for the “ridiculous” serving over your next risotto. Nothing on the menu is as simple as it seems by description, as the team just elevates each dish, from the latest of the farmer’s market crudité served over ice with a chive crème fraiche, to the seafood platter, which is not at all your typical tower. The crab leg has a lemon crème fraiche emulsion enveloped within the wish-there was-more morsal of king crab, scallops are finely chopped and served ceviche style in shell with savory nuts and a tangy concoction and the sea urchin panna cotta with caviar on top is the definition of swoon. The star of the menu is the roast chicken for two, with foie gras, black truffle and brioche. One of the best meals in town, and return clients become like family to the team.
