Why we like it: This type of restaurant is why we live in New York

Why we like it: We were admittedly first confused, then skeptical, by the concept of this restaurant, thinking that it would be too corporate and lacking in atmosphere for our local New Yorker palate. It doesn't happen very often, but we were wrong. Actually we don’t remember when we were this wrong. We liked Chef’s Club so much, we even had a subsequent Postmates delivery to satiate our craving for their comte churros. After all, that’s what the food is about at Chef’s Club; dishes that you crave to the point of going into the territory of borderline obsession.
The concept of Chef’s Club is their Best New Chef alumni as well as notable luminaries get to show us their stuff. So in a nutshell, each dish is a dream concoction of the very best ideas of some of the top chefs in the world. The result is a foodie haven, which begins with their craft cocktails, Del Maguey Mezcal and a flavor packed, highly creative and diverse menu. Add in special celeb guest chefs like Jacques Pepin, and you have a place that continually reinvents itself.
What to order: The menu changes, but we had an incredible shrimp toast that was composed of a rich brioche like-bread that we can’t stop thinking about. We doubled down on the crispy comte churros, their mashed potatoes with fried potato skins and when we tore ourselves away from the side dishes, the miso butter crusted halibut pleasantly wowed us. We could have had everything on the menu, it all sounded so tasty. Our advice is to bring a crew and go family style.
